GAP Christmas Party 16th Dec '05

Well the night went really well with lots of food & fun had by all. We were really impressed with the effort that everybody made in getting dressed up. We had about 5 new people who have never been to our group before so that was exciting. God is certainly opening doors for people to come along but more importantly we feel he is really bonding & growing the group closer to each other as the time goes on. We are so proud of all our young people & of course our leaders. We thank God for a great year this year. He has truely gone above & beyond in so many ways for us. We feel so blessed & privileged to be part of such an amazing group. Please continue to pray for us all here at City Gates that we will fix our eyes on the one above. Have a great Christmas & an even better new year. May God continue to guide all our steps as we look to him.

Lots of love,
In Him,

Alex & Linda Xo

My Trip to Idaho to visit my brother 02~12 Dec '05

Well I'm back from my trip to Idaho to see my brother! It was a nice trip, it was so good to be able to see him again and hang out a bit. It was also nice to get to know his wife a bit more. I would like to say that Idaho is unbelievably cold in the winter. I knew it was going to be cold there with snow but when I saw & of course felt that temperatures plummeted to -28 oC (-19 oF) I knew we were in trouble. We had many adventures from the moment I stepped off the plane. We managed to use our Irish charm to get into the temple grounds in Salt Lake City, got our picture taken for free with Santa in a mall, we nearly had a heart attack while we were in a forest during cogar hunting season, I was bitten twice by a hobo spider, we went to the Lava Hot springs so I was in a Bikini in unnaturally cold temperatures, but it was great. There was so much I don't even know where I would fit it all in but I think that gives you a good idea of what it was like. I'll leave the photos explain the rest. I hope you enjoy the photos. Hope your all well!!

Lots of love
Linda Xo

Myself and Dave at Starbucks. Can you believe this is one of my little bro's. Yes he is my younger brother, living in Idaho. Last time I saw him was Nov '04 when he got married. So it was great to see him!! We miss him terribly. Posted by Picasa

The mormon temple and temple square at night. Posted by Picasa

Who's job was it to put up all the lights on every branch of every tree in temple square? Posted by Picasa

The temple in Salt Lake City, the main one for the mormon churches. The temples are used to perform the works for the dead and also for marriages where they perform a ceremony to seal the marriages for eternity. This is what we were told by a mormon security man. Not sure if he was supposed to tell us though!!! Posted by Picasa

Isn't this an amazing shot, we took it from the top floor of the Joseph Smith memorial building. Again you can only go in here for a meal but we just walked in and got into the lift and up we went. It really is a dark place. Posted by Picasa

This is the building with all the offices where all the prophets work etc Posted by Picasa

Ok so there were weddings going on when we were there & we saw that the gate was open. Now everyone knows that when you go to Salt Lake City that the gates are always closed. You can't get into the temple only on recommendation from your Bishop in a your local mormon church. However we saw that the gate was open and just walked in, only to stopped after 30seconds by security. We waffled our way through and the end result was that he liked us so much and thought we were so harmless that he even suggested that we go up to the front door and get our photos taken. God was amazing the way he gave us opportunities to talk to this guy and leave us walk around the temple. We told Dave's wife Mindi when we got back (she's an X-mormon) and she was in shock as for all her 20 something years as a mormon she never got near the temple esp this one being the head one. Posted by Picasa
